This night was supposed to be special. After an incredible few days filled with blessings — Franklin’s parents officially getting married, the family receiving a brand-new car, and plans for a joyful holiday road trip — everything felt like it was finally coming together. For once, Franklin believed Christmas would be happy. But fate had other plans.

Franklin heads back to the old hood house one last time to grab his forgotten backpack, hoping to fully close that chapter of his life. Instead, he’s met with something unsettling. Strange signs. Weird noises. A feeling in his chest he can’t explain. Something feels wrong… deeply wrong. Then the phone call comes. Jasmine is missing.

Panic takes over as Franklin rushes toward La Mesa Police Station, praying this is all some kind of misunderstanding. But before he can even process the news, he witnesses something no kid should ever have to see — a devastating car crash scene that instantly steals the breath from his lungs. Sirens. Police. Ambulances. Chaos. And then Franklin realizes who’s involved.

From that moment on, Christmas Eve is no longer about presents, lights, or joy. It becomes about survival, fear, and prayer. At Ocean Hospital, Franklin watches doctors rush Jasmine into emergency care while her mom breaks down in tears. The weight of the moment crushes him. He feels helpless. Scared. Heartbroken. But even through the pain, Franklin refuses to give up hope.
